October 10, 2007 – 9:03 pm

Hi all,

I had the pleasure of speaking to a packed room of over 40 people at the NCCET Conference this past Monday. We had a lot of fun and learned a lot from each other along the way.

You weren’t in Kentucky and you want to see what we discussed? Well you’re in luck…I’ve placed my presentation on Slideshare.net. Take a look for yourself:

Want to let your clients know WHEN you’re doing WHAT?

July 27, 2007 – 2:03 pm

So, let’s say you what your clients to know when you have big events coming up.  With all the options out there (and there are MANY), I have to say, Google Calendar is one of the best.  Let’s take a look:

If they’ve got a google account, they can easily add your calendar into their personal calendar section!

BSK’s Top 5 Websites for Entrepreneurs for July

July 15, 2007 – 8:39 am

Hi everyone,

We’ve received many requests to post our top 5 websites for entrepreneurs every month.  We’ll feature 5 websites each month that can help you in starting or growing your own business…most of which are free!  Let’s get started;

1.  FastPitch.comFast Pitch! is a one-stop shop for professionals to network and market their business. Empowered by thousands of members across the world, Fast Pitch! has become the premier destination for professionals who want to connect.  Within a matter of days, FastPitch could get your name in the top 10 when you perform a vanity search (when you search your own name or business in the search engines)

2. GrandCentral.com.   With GrandCentral, you can be reached with a single number, answer a call at any phone you want, seamlessly switch phones in the middle of a call, and even know whether a call is important before you take it.  Recently purchased by Google, it will be exciting to see what other features GrandCentral begins to offer.

3. Prosper.com.  Now this is cool.  Prosper, America’s first people-to-people lending marketplace, was created to make consumer lending more financially and socially rewarding for everyone.  The way Prosper works is intuitive to people who have used eBay. Instead of listing and bidding on items, people list and bid on loans using Prosper’s online auction platform.  Now that’s cool.

4. WebConfs.com.  Search engine optimization is hot.  You can’t get away from it.  But should you optimize the site yourself, or go out to an SEO firm for help?  One thing’s for sure, optimizing your site can cost you time and/or money.  Whichever you choose, make sure you check out webconfs.com for some free tools.  Check out my personal favorites; keyword density cloud and keyword playground.

5. Google Analytics.  Google analytics is awesome.  Google analytics is free.  Google analytics is ridiculously easy to use.  Set it up for free, drop some code into your websites you want to track, and you get advanced traffic and statistics that are very valuable to your business.  See who’s visiting your website, where they’re from, how long they stayed, what pages they visited, and so much more.  Simply awesome.  Simply Google.

We’ll bring you 5 more websites next month that will help you out!  Stay tuned.

SpaceTime.com, the interactive way of searching the internet!

July 11, 2007 – 12:01 pm

With the internet becoming a more dynamic place to interact in virtual worlds, SpaceTime.com provides an application that takes searching on the internet to a new 3-dimensional level. Whether searching specific websites and the pages that exist within that website or searching under google, ebay, images, and a few other selected searches, a cascade of 3D windows appear, ultimately allowing you to click and drag, almost like “Minority Report” with Tom Cruise when he controls visual media with his hands, to find what you are looking for.

This engine however is not always the most optimized to use when simply reviewing a site or a basic search in knowing what you want. It is a very powerful engine when you appropraitely utilize its abilities when intense searches, especially with ebay, videos and images are used (as good examples). The environment is very unique and maximizes ones video card (therefore memory and harddrive) where you must meet the requirements set at a gig of memory.

Try it out and let us know your thoughts!
